Shutterbug Portraits and 2nd Street Beauty in Seal Beach Valentine’s Day Event

We are super excited to team up with 2nd Street Beauty for a Valentine’s Day Event!

You will meet with a professional makeup artist and have your makeover photographed by Shutterbug Portraits. You can view your photos live in the store and upload your favorite to Facebook.

Printed copies of your photo will be available for purchase. Full, complimentary retouching will be added to purchased photos (yep, the works… reduced wrinkles, removed spots… we will make you shine!) Prints will be gift-wrapped and available in time for Valentine’s Day. Print prices start at $25.

I, like most of us girls, typically don’t like being photographed, or never seem able to put any time aside for myself! So, grab a girlfriend (or two!) and come have some fun! (I promise you will be glad you did!)

Make sure to enter your photo into our Facebook contest, hosted on the day of the event. The person with the most ”likes” on their photo, will win an Outdoor Family Photo Session (up to 5 people), and an 11×14 wall portrait (valued at $340). The winner will be announced on Valentine’s Day.

Shutterbug Portraits Photographs $10K Military Nursery Give Away

Last year Jack and Jill Interiors and Bratt Decor teamed up to support our troops by giving away a $10K dream nursery makeover. Local Los Alamitos residents, SSG Carlos Altamirano and his wife Marlene were the lucky winners. View their entry video on the Jack and Jill Interiors Blog www.jackandjillinteriors.blogspot.com.

Additional nursery products were donated by various companies in the children’s industry. Doodlefish Kids donated the ivory rug, Charn and Company donated the nursery chandelier, Stacie Dale donated a beautiful memory keepsake box, Dish and Spoon Productions donated the Prince Wall Hanging Art, Olena Boyko designed and donated the nursery curtains, moses basket and sweet bunny, Dimples and Dandelions designed and donated the plush nursery glider rocker by Angel Song and Bratt Decor donated the beautiful iron crib, changing table and bedding. Jack and Jill Interiors interviewed the couple to determine their design style and helped to select and coordinate the nursery products and paints. They provided floor plans and storyboards for the couple so they could see their nursery come to life while they awaited the arrival of their furnishings.

Shutterbug Portraits was asked to photograph the nursery. We met with the family last week and was blown away by how cute the room turned out. It is very elegant and well thought out. The crib and furniture are amazing and the lines are so luxurious. I am sure they have spent hours rocking their new baby in the plush nursery glider, it is very comfortable! The moses basket, prince wall hanging art, and memory keepsake box are personalized with the baby’s name. The nursery is topped of with a stylish chandelier.

Our studio is donating a sitting for the family and will display a photo above the changing table. We can’t wait for their photo shoot!

The holidays are creeping (is that a play on Halloween?!) up on us! We thought it would be a great idea to have a weekend dedicated to those who want to get a family photo and their holiday card cards done in one weekend.

We are booking 30 minute in-studio sessions over the weekend of October 22nd and 23rd. For a sitting fee of $175 you will receive a 30 minute session and 50 5×7 holiday cards. Our 2011 holiday card line is just gorgeous! Here are some samples:

We were so excited for this photo shoot at Cinnamon Stik in Los Alamitos. Shutterbug was asked to photograph some of their children’s fall clothing. Cinnamon Stik, located in the Arbor Village Shops on Los Alamitos Blvd, has an entire room filled with children’s clothing from newborn to 6T. This is the perfect place to shop for your next photo shoot!

Today’s Groupon is a little ironic for me. I have been going through the house lately chucking things we don’t use or have out grown. I came across the dreaded cabinet with all of our old photos. I literally opened cabinet, peaked in, shut the door and went to the next cabinet. I have hundreds of photos. You remember, the days when we used to have our film developed and received a 4×6 of everything on the roll of film. They have sat in that cabinet for years. My son’s XBox sits outside of the cabinet as there is not room… you get the point!

ScanMyPhotos.com is offering to scan 1,000 4×6 photos for only $29 (includes all photos on a cd and shipping back to you). Honestly, this is a no-brainer. I will now be able to make videos from those funny candid shots of our wedding and of me when I was little. My kids will love it.

ScanMyPhotos.com is located in Irvine, however this deal is only good for mail order. I recommend sending your pictures with a delivery confirmation.

Shutterbug Portraits (Children’s Photographer in Los Alamitos) Recommends Backing Up Your Photos to a Reliable External Drive.

Hopefully the day will never come, but chances are your computer will be infected by a virus. In some cases your computer will recover just fine, however most computers will need to be fully restored back to the factory settings. To translate, everything on your hard drive will be erased and the operating system will be reinstalled. Most computer repair companies will try to recover your information, but it will cost you.

I recommend you do one of two things:

1. Backup your files (including pictures) to an external drive. You can set the external drive to automatically backup all of the new information stored from that week (you choose how often). Once setup, the external drive should communicate directly with your computer without your involvement. I do recommend spot checking to make sure the drive is updating as you have scheduled it to.

2. Save all of your files and pictures directly on the external drive. These files never end up on your computer and are less likely to get infected from a virus.

Regardless which option us choose, you should use an external drive. I recently purchased this external drive from Amazon and wanted to share it with you. I purchased this on Monday (6/27) for $69 and today it is $59. Amazon’s prices vary from day-to-day (I just happened to get the wrong end of the stick!). It is VERY simple to install. Westen Digital is a dependable name brand and I now own 3 of their external hard drives and have NEVER had a problem (knock on wood).
